The Irrigation Agency indicates that following the reorganization of irrigation associations there has been a clear improvement in the efficacy of irrigation and water conservancy work, transcending the area limits inside and outside the irrigation area. Over a two year period, 27 irrigation and water conservancy facilities were built, providing stable supply of irrigation water to 32,000 hectares of agricultural land, which is expected to be expanded to 88,000 hectares in 2025.
The reorganization of irrigation associations was conducted in concert with changes in the social environment, as the government adopts overall planning of irrigation facilities and management of agricultural resources in response to climate change, while dealing with drought and flooding as speedily as possible. This also involves transcending the regional limits of existing irrigation associations so that nationwide limited water resources are used as efficiently as possible and farmers both inside and outside irrigation areas are treated fairly, so as to optimize the national interest.
