The Irrigation Agency follows the policies of the Council of Agriculture. In order to improve the infrastructures of farmland irrigation, encourage the rational use of agricultural water and other resources, it promotes the smart application of agricultural water, and creates a favorable environment for young people to farm. The Irrigation Agency strives to sustainably develop farmland irrigation, and implements the Irrigation Act, which involves exercising the public power of the Agency, strengthening irrigation management organization, farmland irrigation construction inside and outside irrigation areas, expanding the scope of irrigation services, serving more farmers, promoting the systematic improvement of irrigation and drainage facilities and improving farmland irrigation management; In addition, the Agency also provides guidance to farmland irrigation management organizations in promoting green energy utilization in agriculture, enhances the added value of farmland irrigation facilities, and performs the functions of farmland irrigation: production, sustaining local ecology and living conditions.
In order to meet the needs of refined agriculture such as modern agricultural mechanization, agricultural operation scale, and agricultural cold chain logistics, it is necessary to continue farmland rezoning, paving roads with gravel grading and sealing (asphalt) concrete pavement, in accordance with the needs of modern agriculture and specifications of agricultural roads for production needs; in addition, in cooperation with the Ministry of Economic Affairs' "Central Watershed Overall Improvement and Adjustment Plan" to improve water intake facilities and cross-river structures, facilities such as aqueducts, overturned weirs, barrage weirs, diversion channels and pumping equipment are used to increase local flood resilience and maintain the safety and stability of water intake facilities for agricultural irrigation.
