This program mainly focuses on improving agricultural roads and waterways in farmland readjustment area with urgent needs, and includes agricultural roads and waterways on flat land outside the readjustment area. Major operations include improvement of agricultural roads, roadbed reconstruction, road surface renovation, AC repair, slope protection and improvement, parallel waterways and related agricultural roads and waterways improvements etc. This includes the improvement of agricultural roads and road surface drainage that could adversely impact the stability of the roadbed, other auxiliary related safety elements, the introduction of green belts, plant regeneration etc.
It is estimated that 290km of flat land agricultural roads and waterways in farmland readjustment areas (with local cooperation funds) as well as 45km of emergency agricultural roads on flat land outside readjustment areas is improved every year. The Ministry of Agriculture coordinates with county and city governments, the Irrigation Agency and Soil and Water Conservation Bureau to plan project launches, division of labor, areas of cooperation, ways to hold meetings and matters relating to the launch of related projects. Through project promotion coordination meetings consensus is built to promote and implement the program. A program timetable is detailed below.
