2022/4/29 Council of Agriculture Chairman Chen Jizhong visited the Irrigation Agency’s Kaohsiung Management Office to listen to briefings from various units. In addition to inspecting the rotating work schedule implemented by office divisions and groups, as an epidemic prevention measure, Chen also encouraged colleagues in the management office to work in close concert with the policies and tasks of the council and work together to boost agriculture.
This was the first inspection of the management office by chairman Chen Jizhong since the irrigation association was transformed into a public agency. Chen said in his speech that the Council of Agriculture would offer assistance if the management office needed help during its operations, and indicated employee welfare offered by the irrigation association would be guaranteed. He also instructed the office to step up its expanding of irrigation area services, and noted that with flood season approaching it is necessary to inspect and maintain water gates and irrigation facilities at all levels to ensure their normal operation.
Chen praised Kaohsiung Management Office for successfully overcoming the drought and completing irrigation water supply by utilizing careful water distribution and rotation irrigation when Taiwan faced a once-in-a-century drought last year. In addition, he observed that rice production was much higher than in past years. He instructed associated units to record and publicizes their achievement so other units can take note and learn from it; at the same time, the chairman also proposed that the annual Caogong Festival should continue to be held so more people understand Caogong’s contribution to the Greater Kaohsiung area and culture. After the meeting, the chairman took a group photo with first and second level supervisors from Kaohsiung management office, before rushing to the next stop on his itinerary.
