Baileng Canal

Basic information

Introduction
Baileng Canal was established in 1932 during the era of Japanese rule. It was designed and supervised by Japanese national Keno Isoda. In 1954, the tail water in Tianlun Power Plant was used to generate electricity and introduced into Baileng Canal across Dajia River. The water source was obtained by two methods: river water intake and tail water from power generation, irrigating 760 hectares of farmland. The canal is 16.6 kilometers long its defining characteristic being that the entire length of the canal is located on a dangerous mountainside slope. There are open channels, closed channels, tunnels, flumes and inverted siphons.
