Introduction
Construction of Shizitou Canal started in 1908 and was completed at the end of March 1911. The Canal was originally a state-owned canal, but the regulations on state-owned ponds and canals were abolished in March, 1922. On April 1, 1922 it was designated a public canal and on May 17, permission was given to establish a cooperative. On March 31, 1924, it was reorganized as the "Shizitou Irrigation Cooperative" and three monitoring stations were set up in the irrigation area, including "Zhongtan," "Jiyang" and "Zhuzimen."
