Ever since the establishment of the Irrigation Agency on October 1, 2020, it has worked in close concert with the EPA, based on the principle of collective government and efficient sharing of resources. In 2021 and 2022, the two agencies jointly installed about 58 smart water quality sensors in key areas under IA administration offices in Kaohsiung, Changhua, Taichung, Taoyuan etc. enhancing the monitoring of water quality over an area of about 1,102 hectares. The use of new monitoring technology effectively enhanced the ability to monitor irrigation water quality while simultaneously working with local environmental protection agencies to prevent illegal behavior and take urgent countermeasures in the event of pollution, thereby guaranteeing the quality of water used for irrigation.
